Rachel’s Story
Childhood
Dreams
Rachel was born in rural Manitoba. She attended boarding school and spent her summers working on the family farm. As she grew older she dreamed of becoming a nurse and starting a family. Rachel accomplished both of these dreams.
Primetime
She achieved one of her childhood dreams after graduating Nursing School in 1959. In 1961 Rachel met the man of her dreams while being set up on a blind date. Shortly thereafter she married her "Dutch Boy', Con (a.k.a. Cornelis) That was the beginning of a fast pace and memory filled time. Rachel and Con had five boys over the the next sixteen years..
The Golden
Years
During Rachel's life, her and Con have had many opportunities to travel the world especially Holland where she got the chance to know family and friends of Con. After retiring Rachel and Con would spend their winters in Texas where they would spend time enjoying the warm weather and volunteering at an orphange called Children's Haven in Northern Mexico.
